For the rare city slicker who breakfasts at 10am, there are probably few better place to go than the Spires Restaurant which is just of Great Victoria Street. It is situated in the remarkably quiet shopping centre that gives it its name, the ambient eatery offers a selection of food including soups, sandwiches and snacks at an affordable price for the window-shopper or passing customer. The cafe fits in comfortably with the clean white interior of the walk-through shopping floor of the Spires and is overlooked by a circular balcony held up by Egyptian-style columns.
Family and friends who visit and work in Belfast have recommended it, speaking highly of the friendly service and great prices. Spires also has an ethical side as it specialises in fairly-traded coffee, therefore subtly linking its trade with a better deal for producers.
If you are perhaps looking for a quieter place for to meet and eat in the morning, then the Spies is only a short walk from the City Hall and definitely up your street. Below are a few images of the outside and inside of the building so feel free to click on the images for a larger picture. |
